Getting the Message Across – Improving Communication Skills
VBP has been developing educational series which will not only help employees enrich their skills relevant to their everyday tasks but also to help them strengthen their values as individuals. One of the monthly training is our “Lunch & Learn” where employees get to enjoy free lunch while learning new things. For the month of August, the focus was on “Effective Communication”. The training focused on the importance of non-verbal communication in order to understand emotions and intentions behind every information.
Prior to the discussion, participants had a group activity where each designated group was asked to form a tiny bridge using newspapers. The challenging part was working together in the absence of oral communication and providing instructions with the use of hand gestures and movements. After the allotted time for making of the bridge, Dave, who also joined the workshop, tested how sturdy their bridges were by dropping a mug.
In line with the activity, the participants had fully understood the significance of effective connection even in the absence of spoken words and how engaged listening help deepen connections to improve teamwork, decision making and problem solving.
And lastly, the CSRs enthusiasm showed their commitment to change and grow not just intellectually but also professionally. The activities will help every CSR with clearer communication, understanding that correspondence (email) is not communication and how to build better business relationships with the clients.
